Replacing old Crittall windows with new double glazed Crittall
D&R Design worked alongside Westcountry Maintenance Services Ltd on the refurbishment of the Crittall windows at St Mary’s Church in Looe, Cornwall.
The project involved refurbishing and replacing the existing Crittall windows with new double-glazed Crittall windows, providing a modern upgrade while retaining the distinctive steel-framed appearance of the original glazing.
Given the building’s coastal location in Cornwall, the new windows were finished with a marine specification powder coating, offering enhanced protection against the challenging coastal environment and helping to ensure long-term durability.
Particular care was taken with the building’s distinctive architectural details, including bespoke fleur-de-lis-shaped window units positioned at the tops of the windows. These specialist glazed units were fitted directly into the stonework, preserving the unique character of this historic property.
